Anything else?
after a recent consultation with a urologist my boyfriend has been referred for surgery. I was very surprised that only a few days after the appointment a date for surgery was arranged for 6 weeks later, most impressive! I also wanted to leave some positive feedback about the lovely helpful lady I spoke to on the admissions line when I called to change the date of surgery. The call was answered instantly and he was given another appointment quickly and efficiently there and then. The lady was cheery and helpful. The only issue we have is that my boyfriend is extremely apprehensive about the surgery which is under general anaesthetic and the letter states that its on a mixed ward and I am not allowed to accompany him onto the ward. The letter doesn't give any reason for this and I don't understand why I am unable to sit with him until he is taken down to surgery. Is this a strict rule? does this also mean that after surgery I am not allowed to seem him in recovery? and have to wait until he is discharged. He has not been told much about the surgery itself and we presume the consultant will discuss this with him on the day whilst he is on his own. I must say I am disappointed and quite upset not be allowed to be with him.
