"Hospital Feedback."

About: Wansbeck Hospital

Anything else?

I was admitted to Wansbeck General Hospital on June 13th for a hip replacement. From the first phone call from Northumbria trust to remind me that I had this appointment I felt that I was in good hands. I was made to feel that I was someone special, not just a number. The whole team from the Consultant, the Op team, the nurses, and the laughter, the secretary, all were first class. Well done Wansbeck and Northumbria Healthcare. Hallucinations ? After the operation in recovery I was encouraged by rows and rows of delightfull ladies dressed in red floating around. Then followed an episode about which i am ashamed. I informed the duty staff that a security body belt that always carried had disappeared from my bed. I saw it,it was there, but of course I hadn't it was on my desk at home!. Kind regards and best wishes John Tinnion

Response from Wansbeck Hospital

Dear Mr Tinnion, Many thanks for taking the time to tell your story about your care – I received a copy of your lovely note today. I really hope you are keeping well after your surgery – it sounds like you have had quite a bit to cope with including frightening hallucinations. The kindness, helpfulness and professional attention that you describe is exactly what we’d want every one of our patients to receive, every day, across all of our hospitals and community services. We are understandably proud of our orthopaedic team and their commitment to provide the best possible care at all times. We are very grateful when patients take the time to give us feedback. It allows to pay a lot of attention to what really matters. I believe excellent teamwork is often at the heart of high quality care and so it was particularly pleasing that you specifically noted all the different staff that played a part in helping you feel confident that you were being cared for in the right way. Thank you. Your recommendation of our services means a lot to us. With best wishes for your recovery, Annie Annie Laverty- Director of Patient Experience.
