"Ophthalmology: appointments"

About: Kent & Canterbury Hospital / Cardiology Kent & Canterbury Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

Outpatient appointments do not seem to accord with the specialists advice as to next appointment. A verbal request by specialist to see eyes in a few months change administratively to six months wait for appointment - alternatively appointment made to go William Harvey instead of Kent and Canterbury which is close and convenient by public transport. After more than a decade of being seen at Kent and Canterbury, I was sent to William Harvey, and then on request for next appointment at the Kent and Canterbury where they thought I was a new patient!

Now, after a six month wait, the appointment for 27th August has been cancelled and put back to 28th January 2014! In the mean time the cardiac department have said eye drops may be affecting heart, and I have had a chataract removed, but no check on the medication or response of my eyes to the glaucoma.

Thank you for feeding back on your experience, I am really sorry that your appointments have been disrupted.

If you email me your details on Julie.pearce1@nhs.net I will raise your concerns about the delay to the clinical and operational team to see if we can bring your appointment forward.
