Anything else?
On some wards, the care was good. Yet, on others, notably the higher wards (upper floors) the service was very poor, as well as the staff being uncaring, abrupt and rather unwelcoming. On the Acute Stroke Ward, my grandfather was treated fairly well. Yet, when moved up to another floor, the nurses there cared not a jot about him as well as leaving him undressed (apparently they forgot). Also, we were keen to get him into a chair as he had been confined to a bed for nearly a month. He had been out of his bed before (using a hoist), on the lower wards, yet on this upper ward, when we asked if he could be moved into a chair, even for a few hours, they basically ignored us & he never got out of that bed for the entire time he was on the upper wards. It seemed to us as though because of his great age, they thought my grandfather was merely 'on his way out' anyway and they were better off treating other patients. We were glad to see him home and hopefully DRI will improve its poor services.
