Both my wife and I are very grateful for the care and attention we have, are , receiving at the Freeman. In October 2011 I had a Triple Heart Bypass and spent 3 weeks in Ward 25 with two spells in the ICU, the staff were very patient and understanding with my behaviour which was , I'm told, very erratic due to my reaction to the medication. From the surgeon and his team to the cleaners I only encountered people who want to help and were willing to listen. At the same time my wife was diagnosed with Lymphoma for the third time and started to attend the Cancer Care Unit. She is now in remission but has to have a maintenance dose of chemo every 3 months. Once again all the staff have been wonderful, considerate and concerned about her welfare as well as her health and the fact that she felt able to ring the unit no matter what time of day gave her the peace of mind to minimise the worries that arise during such an aggressive regime of chemo, radio therapy and stem cell transplant. The staff on Wards 33, 34 and 36 were all brilliant as are the staff at the Lymphoma Clinic where she still attends. We are both a testament the excellent care, the skilled and dedicated staff and the cutting edge technology provided by this world class hospital. I only came across this site by accident otherwise I would have left a more timely review.

All of our staff strive to provide the highest standards of care and are very pleased to have received your kind comments. We were particularly pleased to see that you felt supported at the time and that the staff were flexible to your needs and that you and your wife found them approachable and helpful. We know that a diagnosis of cancer is a highly emotive time for patients and their family. It is reassuring to hear that your experience of our services was positive and that we were able to provide support in a way that minimised any additional anxiety.
