About: Newham General Hospital

Anything else?

I was referred here when a scan showed possible bone remains left behind from a surgical procedure I had in jan ( also done by newhams sister hosp gateway) my doctor called ahead to a and e and spoke to a gyno to make sure I would be seen as she was very concerned!! I arrived at a&e and 10am and waited my turn. I was seen nearly 4 and a half hours later after they had lost my papers! I was then taken into a room blood and urine taken and that's it! Finally a doctor came round at 9pm to say I would be staying in and in the morning have a scan and potential surgery to clear me out! I was moved ward at 11:30 so I could be scanned when clinic opened at 9! At 9:30 a gyno came round they explained it could b bone or an infection! They then asked what hospital I had surgery at once I said there they totally writ me off as an infection. Suggesting I stopped my nil by mouth and came off the antibiotics they had given me all night! 27 hours after arriving at hospital I still hadnt been scanned due to a nurse error and now had to wait for another available slot! Everyone in my ward had been seen scanned diagnosed and I'm still waiting! I asked several times for a time estimation finally one of the nurses states that the doctors were now going for lunch for a hr! Was atleast a hour and a half backed up! This was at 1pm! Distraught and just wanting to know what was happening I asked to see a doctor or gyno noone available!! After two days wasted with no answers I asked to discharge myself When I refused to sign there paper they refused to take the needles out of my arm!! At this point I'm clearly distraught and just want to go home I have 3 nurses screaming at me to go back to my bed and wait untill a doctor becomes available!! It was only when I left the ward needle attached and drew attention to it that one of the nurses agreed to remove it! I now have No scan No referral papers No antibiotics And no answers and I'm more distraught about the situation then I originally was! I was treated appalling and not one person can explain why I had to wait 27 hours and god knows how long else to have a 20 min scan!
