"My breast cancer journey"

About: Burnley General Hospital

Anything else?

When i was called to Burnley Breast Clinic after a mammogram i was cared for really well, from scans to ultra sound to needle biopsy all staff were excellent. I waited a while for my results but the hospital had to make sure they received the correct diagnosis.I was told i had breast cancer and was operated on very quickly. All my hospital appointments have been dealt with excellently, the staff in ward 14 were very busy but always made sure i was cared for and checked my blood pressure and gave me my medication on time. The breast surgeon and breast care nurse were very professional and always on hand if i needed them. I am waiting for radiotherapy and have started my meds so hopefully with the excellent support of the staff i will improve slowly.I am confident that all the staff who have looked after me will continue to do so on my journey and knowing they are there for me gives me the confidence to get better. The nurses are really busy and i think they all deserve medals, what a fantastic bunch of staff. Please pass on my grateful thanks for all the care and support. I would also like to praise the anaethetist and theatre staff they are also brilliant, im sure they get forgotten about at times. I would definately praise Burnley hospital for its fantastic way of dealing with people and having time for patients. People moan about little things like parking and cleanliness but they are peoples differance of opinions as i thought the hospital was really clean, other issues are minor to an extent, if everything was 100% there would be no need for the words room for improvement. Thankyou so much. Liz Graham

Dear Mrs Graham, Thank you for your kind words. In the breast service we are always happy to receive feedback (of any kind) as it helps us to understand what people want from us and guides us towards providing what people need. As you realised lots of different people and departments played a role in your care and I have passed your comments on to them. I’m glad that everything went well for you. Thank you for letting us know, as I think that a bit of positive feedback does encourage everyone to keep on trying their best!
