"Consultation waiting times"

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

Anything else?

After 4 visits, over a period of about 1 year, not once have we been seen within an hour of our allotted appointment time. Consultants rarely see their patients on time and the longest wait we had was over 3 hours! They do not even have the courtesy to apologise or even make some kind of explanation for their lateness. Why not just reduce the number of daily appointments and start the day later? At least that way, patients would get seen on time!

Thank you for your feedback. The hospital has been working to streamline the processes within the outpatient department for some time and it is disappointing that in your case, this does not appear to have been successful. I will pass your comments onto the manager of the department and will update you with an outcome shortly.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experiences at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and I would like to apologise for the delay to respond to your post; we are always grateful to receive all feedback and comments. We do recognise that patients and their families coming to hospital can already be anxious and we do try to keep delays in clinic to a minimum and keep you informed; however it can be difficult to get the exact right balance of time available and number of appointments as each patient has individual needs and this dictates how long they spend with the Consultant and the clinical teams. If you would like to contact us on either 0121 685 4128 or via email at roh-tr.pals@nhs.net we would be happy to take the precise details from you to learn more precisely about your experiences and where we need to improve. with thanks and best wishes Claire Williams, Patient Relations Manager
