What I liked
I went into A&E in the morning and even though I wasn't a serious case I was still in a lot of pain and I was seen within 20mins of arriving. All the staff there were helpful and tried to get treatment for me ASAP. When admitted I was seen by the senior surgeon who was very helpful and that same night was operated on. The night staff on the Princes wing were lovely and handled my pain and care well. I felt I was in very good hands. I was impressed at the cleanliness, as every time I saw a nurse she was washing her hands and the hospital cleaners would come around at least every 15-30mins to clean the floors and all around the beds.
What could be improved
The day staff on Princes wing were good but as the ward got busier over the course of the morning I started to feel frustrated as the nurses would not come even when the bell had been pressed and I had to stand up after having abdominal surgery for 10mins waiting for someone to come and walk me back to my bed after being to the toilet. Obviously it was busy but I was in a lot of pain and just wanted to lay down! When I was visited by the day staff they were lovely and I couldn't fault the care I was given when they did come to see me.
