What could be improved
I was treated by about 15 different nurses and doctors and I was only in for a few hours. The communication between staff was appauling. I felt as though I was treated like a piece of meat - staff whispered to each other about my diagnosis and barely had the courtesy to explain what was wrong with me. Good bed side manner was shown by 2% of the staff I saw, the other percentage were down right hostile towards me. When we go into hospital, we are in unfamiliar territory and feeling scared and unwell - what a welcome at Hillingdon! I saw other patients being openly glared at when they asked for direction. I was shoved from pillar to post with no explanation - often left waiting in rooms for up to 45 minutes. At one point I was left with the bed reclined full down - so I had nowhere to lean my head, unless I were to lay with the blood rushing to my head! I was treated as a convict not a patient. I realise these people are under pressure with the NHS, but they need to stop standing around with grim looks on their faces and actually show their patients some attention! I feel worse after my episode in there than I did when I went in! Private health cover? I think so!
