About: Kingston Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Generally an excellent and friendly hospital. Would I go there again if needed - yes for sure. There are worse hospitals than this. The staff are kind, caring and willing to listen. The Accident & Emergency Department is especially efficient, friendly and caring.

What could be improved

1. The hospital could be better maintained and cleaned. It is not very old but it looks like a lot of the linolium flooring has been damaged / removed / repaired. It is a danger to walk over. This also traps dirt and germs... Please - new flooring is not that expensive in the main corridors of your hospital.2. Better communication with patients is needed on next steps for treatment / what to expect and do. I had a broke leg and the outpatient department removed my cast and inspected my leg. They then sent me down to the physiotherapy department with a form (some 400 metres away on crutches with a sore leg) only to find out that I was only to hand in the paper form to the receptionist then go home and wait for a letter to tell my appointment details! This treatment rquest (internal referral) should have been done electronically at least, not to mention the appointment system is very old fashioned and not very efficient.3. Also, I was not told what to do with my leg in the meantime. I was given no advice on caring for my injury prior to my physiotharapy appointment some10 days away!4. parking (as always in hospitals) is bad, especially the charges that seem outrageous.
