What I liked
There was nothing positive about our experience on this occasion.
What could be improved
I attended the children's emergency department with my 14 year old daughter who was very unwell. There were only 2 other patients in the department while we were there. The nurses sat at the nurses station throughout. The only time on got up voluntarily was a sister who got up to go for a supper break. I had to ask several times for someone to give my daughter something for pain and vomiting. When she fainted in the department the nurse couldnt care less and called to her when she came round to go back to a cubicle. I had to ask for vomit bowls when she was being sick, even though the nurses could see the cubicle from where they were all sitting. I had to ask how to dispose of the bowls of vomit. Eventually the doctor took them away for me. The sister later came into the cubicle and handed me tablets to take home and walked out without saying a word, not even to tell me what they were. I assumed that as I had been given these I could leave, not a word was said as we walked passed the nurses. This left my daughter distressed and her older brother who was with us for part of the time could not believe how unfriendly this department was. I would go out of my way to avoid attending it again.
