Thanks to Patient Opinion for asking me to try their new blog service and today was a good day to ask because I have been speaking to a standing-room only crowd at the "Improving Patient Care" conference at The Brewery near The Barbican.

I joined our colleagues from Empathica to talk about our Your Care Matters programme and how we are using it to drive continuous patient experience improvement.   It was really great to have so many people attend the session and we had to stop questions so people could get lunch!

Afterwards quite a few people from a wide-range of backgrounds wanted to talk so really felt that what we are doing is worthwhile.   I of course mentioned how we link this through to Patient Opinion and how this is another crucial - and public - part of how we engage with patients.

Finishing the day by visiting a colleague from another Trust to talk about how they run their facilities services - cleaning, cooking, car-parking etc - and whether we can learn anything from how they do it.   Usually there's something interesting to learn from these discussions and I should take more time to do this kind of thing.

Finally tomorrow's an exciting day as we have our open-day for the new theatre block before getting them operational (sic) in 11 days time.  I know that colleagues will be amazed at the quality of what the team have achieved in just six months.

Response from James Munro, Chief executive, Care Opinion on

Hi Ian

First, congratulations on being our first ever blogging subscriber. We're really pleased!

Second, we agree with Oscar Wilde: "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." So thanks for talking about us.

Third, you've already given us valuable feedback on the blog, and we're already working to improve it. There's plenty more we can do to make this useful.

And finally, good luck with the new theatre block. How exciting!

James
