I want to pass on a very belated thank you to everyone who has supported me in my breastfeeding with my son Caden who was born in May. We had a difficult start to breastfeeding and a 3 week long nursing strike when he was about 8 weeks old, which was extremely challenging. I really wanted to breastfeed him for the nutritional benefits, antibodies and also the lovely feeling of closeness that comes with breastfeeding. They say it takes a village and I was certainly supported by a whole range of professionals to overcome our difficulties- community midwives in Banbridge, my health visitor Linda in Dromore clinic, infant feeding specialists Ruth and Sandra, and health visitor Janet in breastfeeding support. Each one was so supportive of my desire to breastfeed and gave me invaluable advice and support. Without each of these ladies I would have given up on breastfeeding a long time ago but I am pleased to say Caden is nearly 7 months and breastfeeding brilliantly. And the most important part- we are both really enjoying that special time we have together.
