"Unsafe wards"

About: Royal Cornhill Hospital / Adult mental health

(as a service user),

As a young female who has been in the acute wards several times, I can say from my experience that young females are NOT safe in there. I have experienced many forms of sexual comments from other patients, thus leading me to feeling worse despite it being an admission to help me.

In my view, it's a dangerous and scary place.

I don't feel as though the doctors have the time to listen, so misdiagnose people left, right and centre and leave them with no outpatient care, to the point where, to me, self-harm seems inevitable.

Hi Hawkqg77,

Thank you for your feedback about your recent admissions to the adult acute wards at Royal Cornhill Hospital. We take patient safety very seriously and are keen to look at ways in which we can improve each patients experience whilst in hospital. We have recently undertaken a Patient Safety Climate survey in each of the wards to explore patient safety in more detail and look make our environments safer. I would be really keen to hear more about your experiences in hospital and to discuss how we can improve. If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please feel free to contact me on 01224557201.

Many thanks, Claire Smith, Nurse Manager, Adult Acute Inpatient wards, Royal Cornhill Hospital.
