"Fife Council carers are very well trained"

About: Care at home / Care at Home East

(as other),

Continuity is necessary, especially for those with dementia who do not respond well to different carer asking lots of questions and unable to give answers and then he shouts and swears at the carer who does not understand they act badly. Regular carers get to know the person well and know how to deal with them and their condition.

Fife Council carers are very well trained. Agency have never been as good in our experience and we had to put the last ones out of the house as they had no life skills -  for instance phoning for an ambulance when the person had soiled himself and was wearing incontinence pads and just left him dirty & phoned an ambulance. Luckily, I just went in & cleaned & changed him and cleaned up. There was lots more!!

Thankfully Fife Council was able to set in during the day and my son then took over night care for his father. We know the regular carers by name and they know us and we co-operate together.
