Two months ago a mole/skin tag on my back became very sore. I decided to seek medical advice; at the back of my mind there was the concern that it could be skin cancer. The nurse clinician at my GP surgery was reassuring but felt it was best to check that there was nothing sinister and referred me to the Dermatology Dept at the Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske).
Within a week I received a phone call from the appointments department inviting me to attend the Dermatology Department the next day.
The team at the Dermatology Department were very welcoming. The consultant soon examined the lesion and offered to remove it that day which I agreed to. At the same time I was reassured by the Consultant that I had nothing to worry about. He said the results from the Pathology Department would be sent to me in about three weeks time.
The procedure to remove the lesion was carried out within a couple of hours of seeing the consultant. This was completed by Terrie and her assistants Clare and Charlotte H who were all very professional. Terrie explained how the procedure would be done, the aftercare and healing process. They all put me at ease and I thank them for that as it was at the end of a long day shift for them.
As I had been told I received the results (benign) three weeks after the appointment.
I would like to thank my local surgery and NHS staff at The Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) for the swift and professional treatment I received.
