Visited A&E at University Hospital Wishaw with my elderly Mum. Mum was assessed, tested, scanned, results obtained, and diagnosed, then we were given an unhurried and clear explanation and offered a choice of inpatient care or outpatient care with follow-up clinic appointments. I cannot fault the service and level of care and kindness my Mum and I were shown from ALL staff. Mum has memory problems due to Cerebral small vessel disease and the doctor was exceptionally reassuring, gentle and patient. The porter who took us to and from the CT scan was friendly and chatty, helping to put us at ease. Though it was obvious the staff were very busy and having to endure verbal abuse at times from a few people, they were all shining examples of what the Scottish NHS is all about, we should all appreciate and support them.
Mum chose outpatient follow-up and the very next day was informed the TIA Clinic appointment was organised for the next day, so Wednesday in A&E, in the TIA Clinic on the Friday. There will also be Falls Clinic and Community Physiotherapy follow-up appointments.
We're exceptionally happy with this episode of NHS care, thank you to everyone involved, you're all amazing.
