"Insulin pump supplies"

About: Enhanced Care / Community Diabetes Services

(as a service user),

I'm a type 1 diabetic patient. I normally email the trust for my pump supplies. However this past month I have been emailing and I haven't received any response along with no supplies.

At the minute I'm becoming very anxious as my supplies are running low and the Southern Trust don't seem to care, with no response to my request for supplies. This is a disgrace. And also potentially life threatening for me as a patient.

Dear E Murray

Thank you for your Care opinion message. We are sorry that you have felt anxious about your request for diabetes supplies. Unfortunately you were initially emailing the wrong address for ordering diabetes consumables, which explains why there was no response from our service. I understand the issue is now resolved and your request has been ordered.

For future reference the email address to use: diabetes.consumables@southerntrust.hscni.net

Thank you

Mandy Gilmore

Mandy

I wasn't emailing the wrong address. The email was sent to an individual staff member within the diabetes consumables office. This staff member normally deals with my order. Obviously that staff member is off work.

Therefore, an automated email response, stating this would have helped.

This is an ongoing issue that is affecting many patients booking diabetes consumables within the Southern Trust.

Thank you

Dear E Murray,

Thank you for your response.

Individual staff members emails cannot be accessed when they are not in work, therefore no automated response can be added.

It is for this reason we ask all service users when requesting diabetes consumables that the generic email is used: Diabetes.consumables@southerntrust.hscni.net

This email can be accessed by more than one person and the requests processed.

I hope this helps with any future requests.

Thank you

Mandy Gilmore

That's ok Mandy.

But patients were having problems using the the generic email too in regards to getting replies in a timely manner. Therefore this greatly effected getting their supplies on time.

I assume this will now be rectified because you are aware of it.

Thank you
