I recently had a procedure performed in Interventional Radiology in ARI. The care given to me both there and in the Gynaecology Ward before and after the procedure was excellent.
I was so impressed by how the team worked together in Interventional Radiology - from the radiology consultant performing the procedure, to the radiology doctor assisting, to the radiographer who was so kind and came to explain my images as I was watching, to the nurses in the room looking after me and looking after the scrub table and instruments, and the recovery nurses.
Everyone worked so well together with a real team approach. I felt safe and listened to at every stage. Everything was explained and I was treated with dignity and respect. As a healthcare worker myself, it was really strange to be on the other side of the service, but honestly I was respected and included in every stage of the process.
The ward staff in Gynaecology Ward were also very kind and respectful. I felt listened to and cared for by all the nurses, and also by the doctors there.
It was really nice to have both student nurses and medical students involved with my care also - everyone was kind and caring.
I know the service is so stretched, but I feel very grateful to have received my treatment, and I know I was given excellent care.
Thanks for understanding my anxiety, pain and embarrassment and for treating all of them kindly and efficiently, with no judgement. It was so affirming to feel understood. My procedure was widely acknowledged as being very painful afterwards and this anticipatory approach across the board made sure I was as comfortable as possible - from pre-med to discharge. Thank you so much everyone!
"Great care in Interventional Radiology"
