"Lack of care, respect and dignity"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a friend),

Lack of care, respect and dignity.

The patient was lying in bed exposed from waist down in view of anyone walking past.

Lack of personal care, hygiene - poor nursing care - blood pressure not being taken as frequently as it should be. She has been transferred from Intensive Care and High Dependency where the care was excellent.

Patients need to be washed, dressed, and have it be ensured that their bodies are covered at all times, especially in cases like this where they cannot speak or alert the nursing staff when requiring support.

Dear Monday7,

I am sincerely sorry to hear of your concerns and would be keen to investigate this further. If your friend is able to either contact us or, if able to, to speak with the senior charge nurse if they are still receiving inpatient care then this can be investigated further.

My contact details are eilidh.gallagher@ggc.scot.nhs.uk or I can be contacted on 0141 201 2548 by either the patient themselves if able to do so or an appropriate next of kin.

Many thanks for taking the time to feedback this experience. We will always seek to learn from both positive and negative experiences and hope we can be afforded the opportunity to learn and improve in this instance.

Kind regards,

Eilidh Gallagher
Clinical Service Manager, Neurology Medical Specialities
