"Breastfeeding coordinator"

About: Royal Jubilee Maternity services

(as a service user),

I want to give some positive feedback on my experience of the Breastfeeding coordinator Barbara in Royal hospital May 2022.

Barbara went above and beyond to support my Breastfeeding journey. She came to see me in recovery after my caesarean section to support the expression of milk. Gave me lots of practical advice. Then came back to see me a few days later and carried out a tongue tie assessment on my son. She then carried out a tongue tie snip on him giving me lots of reassurance during the procedure. She has a wonderful practical way with her which made me feel very supported.

She also responded to any email queries when I went home and made a follow up call to ensure all was well with both of us. This really helped ensure I continued to express and eventually breastfeed my son.

Thank you Barbara you provide an excellent service to new Mums :-)

Hi blackbirdhr63,

Thank you so much for taking the time give such positive feedback about your experience in RJMS. I am delighted that you had such a positive breastfeeding journey.

Barbara is an excellent member of our team and she has obviously played an important part in establishing your breastfeeding early, which is often key. I know she will be very pleased to hear she has had such a positive impact, and I will ensure she sees your comments.

I am delighted to hear that you felt reassured and supported throughout your time in hospital and in the early postnatal period. Belfast trust are pleased to offer the tongue tie clinic for families and I am glad we were able to respond to your baby's needs in this way.

I trust that your baby will continue to thrive and that you meet your breastfeeding goals.

Many thanks and best wishes

Lisa Darrah

Lead Midwife
