"12 week course - cancer recovery"

Last week I completed a 12 week referral at Roxburghe House Day Care, once a week for 5 hours. Activities included Art with two in house artists Donna and Neal, both excellent artists and great at encouraging people to have a go even though they have never done anything artistic before.

An in house writer, Emily who is currently helping me with my life story which will end up in a book for myself and family, also a copy will be in the Roxburghe Library with my full permission.

The two senior nurses Carole and Lee, both of them were superb, always greeted on entry and made to feel at home from the second you entered Roxburghe till the second you left.

There was Kerry and Ruth who gave us physiotherapy, exercise, relaxation, another nurse Rosanne was brilliant with all the day centre visitors, as was Fiona who was a volunteer.

There was a talk by a health professional every week, Helen was one from Psychology there was one from the chemist, and the hospital chaplain and somebody  different every week, very helpful and helped put us on a path for better health.

The referral was the best thing that has happened to me and brought me back to life so to speak.

Also a shout out to the McMillan nurses who work out of Roxburghe especially Alison with my pain management.

The Roxburghe Team have everything spot on and you feel like a member of the family. I would recommend anybody who has had any life changing care to see their specialist/doctor/consultant etc to get on the phone and get some more people referred to Roxburghe to this day care hospital.
