I had my baby at the start of September. I don't feel like sharing the negatives and I am still coming to terms with my experience in the induction ward and the maternity ward after my emergency c-section. I believe these two areas are understaffed and due to this the care is minimal and rushed.
However I want to say a massive thank you to the midwives and doctors on labour ward, my midwife for my c-section made me feel so comforted and safe. I believe her name was Kiera but I'm not completely sure. She even came to see me on the ward the next day. If not for her I would have no positive memory of my time at the hospital. The team during my c-section were lovely and I felt at ease throughout.
In particular I would recommend more help for breastfeeding. I struggled to get my baby to latch and although the student midwives tried their absolute best to help me I didn't gain confidence until at home in a more peaceful environment than the ward and my baby is now thriving despite some of the midwives clearly doubting me in the ward.
I hope more can be done to help the doctors, midwives, care assistants and nurses. I believe my negative experience was due to the immense pressure they are under and having to rush their work.
Also the outpatient induction information needs to be updated. I had been told by community midwives that with the pessary I could go home and my information book on induction stated this also. But I found out on induction day that this was not true.
