I broke my hip at work, falling on my left side whilst sweeping. Staff members phoned for an ambulance, which promptly arrived. Fabulous work and care from our paramedics (Gillian and company).
Taken to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock. Perfect medical care from Dr Chong, Dr Gibson, Dr Kidd and the superlative work of Dr Moazzin.Perfect medical care from trauma ward staff: doctors, nurses, care assistants, domestics, porters (especially nurse in charge - Tina) and deepest thanks to lab technicians for urine & blood sample results.Taken back to Crosshouse 3 mote times, D.V.T. possibility. Marvellous work by Dr Khan, Dr Hendersons. Deepest thanks for the Red Cross paramedics Aysha and Jim. Wonderful work by our scanning doctors and nurses in Crosshouse.
(Footnote: Patients consider Crosshouse Hospital meals, the best hospital cuisine of any hospital. Crosshouse chefs are considered the best.)
Complications= fluid in legs, leg skin-infection, bladder-infection, iron-deficient anaemia, pain = Diuretics, Antiobiotics, iron pills and Co-Codamol (Footnote: Diuretics released 1 stone in fluid from legs). The addictive co-codamol (which I returned to NHS after a very short time) produced severe constipation, 4 hours of rectal bleeding and a prolapse. Brother-in-law spent 22 hours on the phone trying to obtain an ambulance (Please note: this is NOT a complaint).
Taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital (Greenock).
2 day stay: platinum medical care Dr Masood, Dr Hamma, Dr Mackay.
In all my 63 years, the greatest hospital wards staff of all time are the nurses, student nurses, care assistants, domestics and porters of H North Ward. Plus the great work of Phillip, Laboratory Manager; great thanks to all administration staff of Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
As always for years and years, deepest appreciation and thanks to all administration ladies, practice nurse and our GP family - doctors of Largs Brooksby Health Centre. In this timescale, greatest thanks to Brooksby Physiotherapy department, especially Zoe and her wonderful help. Superb care by Dr Jamison, Dr Raj, Dr Ali-Butt, and finally (in joint equal 1st position) my triple platinum, 24-carat-gold, champions league family doctors: Doctor Jones and Doctor Mackay - the greatest of the greatest.
Question: NHS improvements?
Answer: None needed. In my opinion, the improvements are in the hands of the patients, prevention is better than cure. (Patients: go on a diet, to their correct weight, cut alcohol to correct levels, high fibre diet, exercise to 3 hours of walking per day!)
