I was referred to the HUB for Gastro Investigation. This was my first visit to the Centre. I have a complex medical history.
I was extremely impressed with every aspect of the care I received on this occasion. Upon arrival I was greeted in an extremely pleasant way by the receptionist and was taken promptly at the specified appointment time. I was a new referral to the consultant, Dr Addley, and despite my complex history it was obvious she had taken the time to read through my notes thoroughly which thereby enabled her to ask more direct and probing questions in relation to my issues. She was extremely, patient and succinct in the information and explanation she gave me. She was very reassuring and clear of her proposed care plan.
For the first time in quite a number of years I felt listened to, supported and not made to feel I was wasting anyone's time. I very much appreciated Dr Addley’s decision to have Christine, the Dietition in attendance throughout the consultation to save me having to repeat any of the information. Christine herself was equally as pleasant, helpful, patient and supportive throughout our follow-up discussion. Absolutely nothing was a bother to her and she was determined I would leave confident and secure in my proposed care plan.
Both Dr Addley and Christine assured me that I would not be abandoned, that there would be regular follow-ups and they would be with me every step of the way. I found this so reassuring and comforting as I have had many negative experiences in the past. Following these consultations I then went to have bloods taken where once again the pleasant manner, patience and reassurance of the nurse put me at ease for the procedure.
Overall I cannot praise highly enough the manner and competence of the team members I encountered during my visit. They all helped overcome my anxiety and concern in relation to my visit.
"Competent and reassuring service"
