"Mesh Erosion"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Urogynaecology Perth Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had Transvaginal Tape (TVT) mesh fitted in 2009. In 2015 I had my first erosion into vagina wall. I had it trimmed back in 2016 it eroded again in 2017, 2019 & 2021. I had trim backs on all as I couldn’t cope with the pain caused by the erosions.

I now await appointment for the 5th erosion. This time I want full removal as it is obviously not working having the trims. I am getting older and General Anaesthetic’s  (GAs) are harder to recover from, but I have been waiting months for an appointment at Glasgow Mesh Centre

I also have concerns about the ability of the surgeons to remove it in Scotland but unfortunately can’t get anyone in the NHS or National Services Scotland (NSS) to tell me about any specialist training surgeons may have had.

I have no trust or faith in the NHS surgeons or the health secretary who was unable to give direct answers about my concerns.

This mesh continues to ruin my life and I believe, of many people across Scotland and UK.
