Admitted for urgent CT scan of possible blood clot in abdominal aorta. Unfortunately my veins notoriously difficult to locate with cannula needle. Eventually one was found by a combination of ultrasound and the skill of a doctor. I was impressed to hear him muttering the names of veins and arteries as his finger moved over my arm. His way of retaining his knowledge of the human body during work. I thought that they learnt this during their studies, then promptly forgot a lot of it. He was so gentle, after feeling like the proverbial pincushion, I didn’t even feel the insertion of the needle. The CT scan was over without any problems & he quickly confirmed it was clear, although apparently I have gall stones which I didn’t know about. The staff were all very kind and caring, they made a worrying time for my husband and myself more bearable by their calm and knowledgeable demeanour. Not the best way to spend a Saturday, but certainly not the worst either. The staff inspire confidence in our NHS and although I hope I do not have to visit them again in the future, it gives me a warm feeling knowing they are there. Thank you .
"Excellent Care"
