"Urgent referral for mesh erosion"

Was urgently  referred to Mesh Centre / New Vic hospital in Glasgow. My Mesh has eroded ( I knew this already ) and I am in agony . Had not received any communication from either department so I called to find out why. Was told that I have a 50 week wait just to be seen.

I’m lost for words and can’t get my head around this bizarre system at all. I was informed that the extremely long waiting time was due to, wait for it … COVID. Well of course it’s going to be the fault of COVID or other global events, that seems to be the blame for all of the NHS failures these days. Yet , other hospital departments continued to see patients during Covid? But the Mesh Centre didn’t, despite having the financial backing?

I know that inevitably, this 50 week wait will have a serious and detrimental effect on my physical and mental health. I believe I am at serious risk from sepsis. The worst part is that no one seems to care or even pretend to care. So pleased to see that others, with a similar problem, have had positive experiences. Just not enough of the uro/gynae patients getting seen quick enough !
