"Consideration and courtesy beyond all bounds"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Renal and Transplant Services (Ward 4a, 4d)

(as a service user),

Last year in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital I had surgery carried out by Mr Mackay in ward 4d.

On a post operation visit with others present Mr Mackay asked me if I was able to enjoy tea to which I rather cheekily replied "Yes.  Milk and two please"

To the astonishment of all present, this gentleman left the room and returned carrying the best mug of tea I can recall ever drinking.

Mr MacKay is highly respected by everyone to whom I have told this story but as a layman I would want to express my admiration for his professional skills coupled with the thoughtfulness all too rarely expected of such talented people.

Dear Ex spook

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such lovely feedback in regards to your experience of attending Ward 4D of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

It was wonderful to hear how thoughtful and professional Mr Mackay and his team were throughout your surgery. This must have calmed your nerves greatly.

I will be sure to pass on your thanks to the team who I'm sure will be touched to hear such glowing feedback. Mr Mackay is well renown for his cuppa's so I'm sure he will be delighted to hear it made you smile.

Kind regards

Kevin

Update posted by Ex spook (a service user)

Thanks to Kevin for acknowledgement and reply to my story. It was a pleasure for me to have an opportunity to perhaps reassure other patients that their well-being is not limited to physical considerations only by those “at the helm” as it were

I should add that my continuing treatment in dialysis reveals similar examples of kindness and thoughtfulness daily

Many thanks for the opportunity to express my gratitude to those concerned
