My son-in-law goes to Victoria Hospital for dialysis 3 times a week. He works full time on night shift. He has had tests for a seizure he suffered after treatment 2 months ago. At the time of this seizure he was advised by a nurse to contact DVLA and his driving licence was revoked. After talking to staff it would seem he need not have got his driving licence revoked.
He has been trying to get to see a Doctor to write a letter to DVLA so his licence can be reinstated. Currently he has to walk to catch a bus from his home in Dunfermline to Victoria Hospital. This would be a great feat for a fit man but in his condition he often has to stop to be sick. At the last appointment the nurse hooked up his damaged kidney, having not read his notes, so the dialysis did not happen. The fluid retention is getting worse and he finds it getting harder to breathe.
My son-in-law has only recently bought a house and has not been able to register with a G.P. In 2 years he has only seen a consultant or doctor 5 times, even though every time he gets to the Dialysis Unit there are Consultants in the Renal Unit next door. Surely it would not take long for one of those to pop in to the Dialysis Unit. The nurses are rushing about and do not or will not go through to the unit on the patient's behalf.
