I experienced some light post menopausal bleeding and was able to quickly make an appointment to see a nurse practitioner at my GP practice. I was diagnosed with an abnormal cervix and put on the fast track referral system. I was contacted three days later by phone with an appointment at Royal Cornwall Hospital for a colposcopy at the end of that week. The receptionist making the appointment was so friendly and was able to arrange at suitable time for me to attend.
At the hospital I was treated with care and dignity. I am an extremely nervous patient and the nursing team and my consultant were so careful and kind, explaining exactly what was happening and taking their time to get me comfortable with the procedure. Although the actual procedure was a little uncomfortable, it was over very quickly and I was reassured that things had gone well. The team were gentle, friendly, chatty and very good humoured. They made an appointment that I was very fearful about, very relaxed and professional. I would really like to thank the team for getting me through this with kindness and dignity. If I have any future appointments necessary I know that I have nothing to worry about as I was treated so kindly.
