I had an appointment at 9 am at the one-stop clinic. Dr Smith and both nurses couldn't have been more caring and helped calm my nerves. Dr Smith went over what was to happen and made sure I was comfortable with everything.
The nurses were working with the equipment and I knew something was wrong. When I asked more about this delay, and the knock-on effect, I was told the clinic has to see around 6 people in a morning clinic, only having 40 mins for each appointment.
I think this is too much of an ask even when all equipment is prepared and ready to use at 9 am, never mind the day staff having to prepare equipment when the first patient is in the room.
This one-stop clinic is a fantastic idea, and I think a more organised specific job role should be put in place to cover all aspects of getting the equipment ready so the staff can deal with patients at the start of their appointment, not just an add-on to staff in a busy maternity ward.
I hope someone seriously looks at this and can implement some improvements sooner rather than later.
