"Blue badge parking...dismal!"

About: Wrightington Hospital

Wrightington is a centre of excellence for orthopaedics. With this in mind I would like to say how awful parking is for disabled people.

There are simply not enough spaces available near the therapy dept. I need to fully open my car door to get in and out, I use two crutches. Parking in the top car park is simply not an option.

It really stresses me out, I worry more about getting a disabled parking space than the actual treatment, thats simply not right.

My friend who uses a rollator has actually missed two appointments now as she couldnt get a space.

Its awful, its stressful. Please do something about it...I attend hospital twice a week and its stressing me out!!!

Thank you for your posting, which I have shared with the Car Parking Manager, who advises that the Trust is undertaking a review of the number of disabled spaces at Wrightington to see if we can alleviate any stress in this regard. On entering the site, if you take the first left at the small roundabout there are at least 10 disabled bays marked up within a very short walk of the hospital in addition to the ones that we have outside outpatients. The Trust hopes that the parking will become better, and the Car Parking Manager is sorry that this has caused you stress.

Yours sincerely
