"Difficulty of making contact by telephone"

About: Sexual Health Services - Shropshire (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

I am on long-term treatment for genital herpes. I normally phone the clinic in Shrewsbury to book a telephone appointment with my doctor. Until recently, it was easy to reach a receptionist, but when I called recently I was informed that I was about number 40 in the queue. I then tried later, only to be informed that I was number 70 in the queue. How on earth does that help anybody? I feel it is appalling.

Fortunately I was able to drive to the clinic at Severn Fields and make an appointment for later in the week. But this option would not be available to everyone.

Please, please, change the system, so that one can get through quickly to someone in the county.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I completely understand how frustrating this must have been for you, and will likely be for others. Following feedback on our phone systems we have made some changes and from next week this issue should be resolved. I apologise for the unnecessary frustration and delay this has added to you being able to book an appointment with us.

If you wish to discuss this in more detail then please contact me, my email address is jennifer.jones@mpft.nhs.uk
