"Reduced casualty service"

About: Lagan Valley Hospital / Urgent Care Centre

(as a service user),

I feel it is a shame and disgrace the way the authorities have affected this once great hospital. What saved many people in Lisburn during the days of the troubles now running Casualty during Office hours and having to pre book.

It has done nothing but heap pressure on other hospitals in the local area causing stress to patients and families

Hi Big Fella,

Thank you for taking time to write and share your reflections. The team working in LVH are seeing nearly as many people now as they've ever been seeing, and including those who make contact and are not seen, it's more than before. The majority of those not seen is because they do not need to be seen. Of those who are advised to attend another hospital, this is because the services they require beyond initial medical intervention is not available in Lagan Valley. This results in fewer people experiencing delays in their care.

We do monitor, and will continue to monitor those from the Lisburn areas who attend other hospitals, and we monitor the experience of those advised to attend elsewhere via our patient experience team.
