"Feeling like a time waster"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

I was sent to the Queen Margaret as an urgent referral from my opticians. The nurses were wonderful -  the consultant and the doctor not so much.  After a 3 hour wait they left me feeling like an absolute idiot and time waster. They kept speaking to each other in medical terminology. I have a " floater " that's covering a large part of my eye.  To them that might not be significant but it impacts my life. I have blurred vision and constant sore eye and now headaches - it is significant for me.

I have basically been told to live with it, which is fine for them to say.  I feel their compassion and understanding leaves a lot to be desired. I left feeling like an absolute time waster.

Hi Montysmrs,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience in the ophthalmology department. We appreciate this very much.

I am very happy to hear that the nursing staff were wonderful but really disappointed to hear that your experience with the medical staff on the day not so good. I'm also very sorry that you had a 3 hour wait in the clinic.

If you wish to discuss this in more detail, please feel free to telephone me on the numbers below. Please be reassured that I will share this with the wider ophthalmology team.

Kind Regards

Ruth
