I fractured my wrist five weeks ago and have had three visits to the fracture clinic at RVH Belfast. From beginning to end my experience has been exemplary. Every single person I was in contact with went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and treated me with utmost courtesy and compassion. From the lovely receptionist who always greeted patients with a smile, the plaster technician who chatted away and made a daunting experience very relaxed, the nurses, and special thanks to Kim who I was fortunate enough to see on two separate occasions. Her skill at applying plaster cast is second to none and my cast remained comfortable throughout my time in plaster .
The radiographer was always so pleasant and helpful and the medical staff, Miss Thompson and Dr Catherine were so professional and gave me reassurance and took time to explain all my treatment , and treated me again with utmost kindness and empathy. Lastly I was referred to physio, and Gerry made sure I knew what rehab was needed and gave me lots of advice and support.
The clinic, whilst being very busy, still manages to be patient-centred and has the well being of its service users at its core. Whilst the NHS continues to struggle, with a service like this there’s still a glimmer of hope !
