I had blood tests at the doctor's surgery. That evening I was informed that I needed to go to NNUH. I was admitted to the AMU, where I was given two blood transfusions, an iron infusion, and a B 12 injection.
At the time I thought I was alright, got out of breath easily but after resting for a short time felt OK again. This was due to lack of oxygen in the blood.
The following day a consultant had a talk, explained what was happening and needed follow-up appointments. All this was done in the next three weeks.
I was kept informed of all procedures, the care that I received was second to none. Some of the procedures were invasive, but with the help of the nurses made it as pleasant as possible.
