"Excellent care received - Max Fax Oral Surgery"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Oral Surgery Clinic

(as a service user),

I was admitted to the Maxillo-Facial ward at the Ulster Hospital via Emergency department.

I had a tooth abscess that had gone drastically wrong and had severe swelling of my jaw, face and neck. The offending tooth was removed in the Max-fax oral surgery department, then I was admitted to the ward for IV antibiotics and pain relief.

I have to commend the whole team for their care, compassion and expertise. It was not a pleasant condition, but I felt reassured that I was in good hands. Given the pressures for hospital beds I was reassured that I was kept on the ward until the Consultant, Mr McCauley, was absolutely sure that I was medically ready for discharge.

The whole team from Niamh in Emergency Department, to the nurses on the ward, Senior House Officers (SHOs) and consultant were very professional and kind.

Dear Light22

Thank you for your kind feedback. I am sorry to hear of your experience but I am glad to hear that your tooth has been removed and your infection settled. It is lovely to hear that you had have a positive experience within each of the areas you were in, throughout your time in the Ulster Hospital. Mr McCauley and the teams in each of the departments work hard to deliver quality care to their patients and I am delighted to hear of the care, compassion and reassurance that you received from them. I will pass on your praise to Mr McCauley and the teams and I wish you well in your recovery.
