I was admitted to the Maxillo-Facial ward at the Ulster Hospital via Emergency department.
I had a tooth abscess that had gone drastically wrong and had severe swelling of my jaw, face and neck. The offending tooth was removed in the Max-fax oral surgery department, then I was admitted to the ward for IV antibiotics and pain relief.
I have to commend the whole team for their care, compassion and expertise. It was not a pleasant condition, but I felt reassured that I was in good hands. Given the pressures for hospital beds I was reassured that I was kept on the ward until the Consultant, Mr McCauley, was absolutely sure that I was medically ready for discharge.
The whole team from Niamh in Emergency Department, to the nurses on the ward, Senior House Officers (SHOs) and consultant were very professional and kind.
