"Getting physical"

About: Borders Community Services / Community Rehab Team Borders Community Services / East/West Community Mental Health Team

(as a service user),

I have mental health issues,  and with my CPN set a goal earlier in the year to independently attend the gym and get fitter . Since around Spring, with support from my CPN, I have managed to work up to running to the gym twice a week. When at the gym, on one day I do cardio exercises across a variety of machines, rowing machines and cycling. The second day I do strength, using weights.

This has improved my confidence, physical health and mental health. I have also lost weight and really enjoy it.

Dear Wellington45

Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback.

I am so pleased that you have found the support of your CPN valuable and supporting you to attend the gym and improving your own physical health. As a frequent attender to the gym myself I absolutely agree the positive impact physical health can have on someone's mental health. Fantastic achievements with your cardio and weight loss!

I wish you well on your gym journey and the ongoing improvements you will definitely see and feel for the future.
