My mother had a knee replacement at North Down Hospital under the NHS. She then had follow up physiotherapy at Caterham Dene Hospital. Whilst attending Physiotherapy with my Mum at Caterham Dene Hospital, the Physiotherapist did not like the sound of the symptoms my mother was showing and describing and recommended that she see a doctor urgently.
I made an appointment with the GP who saw her within the hour. After conducting heart tests he advised immediate admission to the acute medical unit at east surrey hospital. I drove my mother there immediately, and whilst walking my mother from the car park a nurse coming off duty arranged a wheel chair and helped us into the unit. Within 3 hours of admission my mother had been fitted with a pace maker. The care received in the ward was brilliant-nurses were great and reassuring in a stressful situation.
