"My Husbands Care"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Surgical HDU

(as a relative),

My Husband became unwell at the start of the week and took some convincing to allow me to call an Ambulance as a nurse myself we waited in retrospect to long as we did not want to put undue pressure on an already strained service. However when his observations became serious and he became very unwell I called 999 from there on the care he received and is still receiving is an absolute credit to ARI .

A&E team called me in the middle of the night to update me and inform me he was going to HDU 217 the team on 217 are the most kind caring empathetic and highly skilled team of nurses I have ever witnessed. Their care and continuing care of my husband is beyond words of thanks .

Special thanks to Pauline who supported me  on the day of his surgery. The Anaesthetic Team from ITU and of course his Surgeon whom without we would no longer have the man who holds our family together. The Haematologist the Pharmacist and ward HCA and domestic staff thank you all. The ongoing and difficult battle we are still undergoing is made bearable by the.nursing staff on 217 .

Thank you all with our family’s deepest respect

Dear AlbaB

Thank you for your feedback around your husband's care while on Ward 217 Surgical HDU. It is heart-warming and reassuring to hear that the care you witnessed was kind, caring, empathetic and skilled. The team here are dedicated to care for our patients and their family members to the highest standard possible. I will pass on your thanks to Pauline and the wider team on Surgical HDU. I hope your husband continues to make positive progress and is recovering well and you and your family continue to feel supported.

Many Thanks

Jane Taylor (Senior Charge Nurse SHDU)
