"Positive birth experience"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care

(as the patient),

I was really nervous about giving birth in hospital again after a previous traumatic birth (nothing to do with hospital care).

The midwife was so supportive of myself and my husband when we came in. She took time to read my birth plan and discuss options with us. We were only 3 cm but being monitored for a little while due to previous reduced movements.

We were told we couldn't go into the birthing pool or mlu due to baby having some dcells. She was so careful with her wording to help us feel like we had options, etc. We had birth plans for everything, so as much as we were gutted to be heading to labour and delivery, we were prepared for it happening.

Baby decided he was arriving quickly. Our wonderful midwife passed baby straight through to myself, allowed for a lotus birth and helped me cut his cord. I'm still on a high for my wonderful experience.

I can't thank her enough for giving me that sense of control that's really needed in labour.

Dear AB1992

Congratulations on the birth of your baby, and thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience of University Hospital Wishaw, Maternity care, as I am sure your baby keeps you busy.

I am delighted to hear this was a positive experience for you and you experienced the extraordinary care our friendly teams aim to deliver every day. It is great encouragement for staff to be recognised and your feedback will give the teams a much needed boost.

Thank you
