"Impenetrable wall around surgery"

About: Burgess Hill GP Hub

(as the patient),

This is about Meadows surgery Burgess Hill, and the useless process they have for econsultation.

First off, Meadows' website looks like they are doing whatever possible to stop people making appointments. It's incredibly discouraging, and, is basically the reason why I have endured extreme pain and lack of sleep and mobility for the last two weeks.

I finally gave in yesterday and tried the  econsult again.

I tried again this morning, three times - same result.

So, I have to enter the demeaning race that is to redial as fast as possible for as long as possible from 8.30 onwards and hope you don't hear the engaged tone.

I finally gave up and will just go on not sleeping, hobbling around and not being able to work or go about daily life properly.

You win I guess.

Dear Patient

I am sorry to hear that you have had a problem trying to get an appointment at the Meadows Surgery.

I would like to have had the chance to look into this for you, as E-consults are actioned within 24 hrs hour (unless it is a weekend or bank holiday). They are sent through to a GP and they ask the receptionists to action this, urgently or routinely, all patients are contacted then to make the appointments accordingly.

It is important that we hear from patients when things go wrong as this can help us learn and make improvements.

Please do get in touch with the Practice.

Dear Meadows Surgery,

Thanks for your response, it's much appreciated.

I was considering to take my post down because, during the moderation process, it had been slightly re-written and, as a result, reads differently than I intended. Furthermore, my experience was over a week ago but it took some time to be posted here.

Regarding online consults, I tried it, in total around 12 times, I suppose, on 4 or 5 days spread over 2 and a bit weeks. I hoped it would feed information to you, but it seems it didn't.

I did try to call multiple times, again, over the course of 2 weeks or so but the phone was always engaged. I got frustrated, and gave up.

In the end my wife did get through and made an appointment for me.
