I underwent a TOE (transoesophageal echocardiogram) for investigation and assessment of an atrial septal defect (a hole in the heart) that was recently diagnosed. The required a scope like an endoscope to be passed into my gullet under sedation and local throat spray. I was quite anxious about this.
The staff were brilliant and put me at ease, and the procedure went well. The consultant came to give me a full explanation of the results. I'm relieved that it went well.
"I was quite anxious about the procedure"
