"My care from diagnosis to aftercare: 100%"

About: General practices in Fife Victoria Hospital / Colorectal Unit Victoria Hospital / SEAL (Surgical Elective Admission Lounge)

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the beginning of July 22. At the beginning of September 22, I was operated on to remove part of my bowel at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. I have to say, from diagnosis to operation, my care was 100% first class. From my G.P to the whole team at the Vic, my care was absolutely fantastic. From the surgical team, anaesthetist team, to the staff on the wards, I have nothing but the highest praise. I was very worried about the outcome and future, but my care team were so supportive and positive they allayed all my fears.

Nothing was a problem for them and special praise must go to the Enhanced Recovery Team who guided me throughout the process every step of the way and are ALWAYS on the end of the phone should I have any questions, which is a great source of comfort during a very worrying time. I wish I could name them all but would be here all night. I had an 8 hour op carried out and was discharged 3 days later. Absolutely outstanding effort from our N.H.S, I have not one single negative to say about my experience, you are ALL angels in human guise.

Thank you all for giving me my life back. To anybody else going through this I would say DON'T be afraid, listen to what your surgical/enhanced recovery/anaesthetist teams tell you and READ all the advice they give you because the seemingly "little" things will aid your recovery.

God bless you all and THANK YOU for everything.
