"Maternity Services and Care in Swah"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had complications during my pregnancy. From the beginning I had some high risks and was consultant led.  The care I got from the beginning was second to none and nothing was skimmed over.  I was admitted at 24 weeks twice with kidney problems etc. I was frightened as it was an early labour. The staff in the maternity ward, women's health and MFAU did an amazing job and I was reassured at every appt and had extra appts also when baby wasn't growing as it should.  The staff are so friendly and you are made feel important, not just a number.

I was admitted for a planned section into the maternity ward in August.... the midwife assigned to me was great and the support workers are unreal....every member of staff I met with went above and beyond. I then had a hemorrhage that night and the staff that were on were amazing and so efficient. They explained everything in great detail. I wasn't panicking cause I knew I was in great hands and had to go for emergency surgery under general anesthetic.  The ward sister was fantastic at her job. My baby was well looked after while I was away and I was attended all night and the next few days until I was discharged.

The staff in Maternity In SWAH are unbelievable and so made for their jobs....thank you so much to every member of staff I came into contact with for making the scary times of bringing this wee miracle into the world less daunting.  I will be forever grateful for care given throughout.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. It has been amazing to hear that despite you having a high-risk pregnancy, you felt reassured and supported throughout. This is especially important when things don't go to plan, and you felt safe even through emergencies. I will ensure that your amazing feedback is shared throughout all the staff in the maternity services team, both in hospital and community. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how your experience was.

Regards

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and many thanks for taking the time to write your lovely comments.

I am delighted to hear that you felt well supported and informed during your pregnancy and when in hospital, in what must have been a very worrying time. It is great to know that you felt supported by all staff throughout your journey.

I will ensure to pass your comments on to our maternity team, who will be pleased to have the care they provide described in such a positive way.

I would like to send my best wishes to you and your family. Thanks again.

Ali Ferguson
