One weekend in early June I realised there was something wrong with my right arm. I then called my GP on the Monday morning and was referred to a clinic at the Victoria Hospital.
I had a brain scan at the clinic, which had shown that I had a stroke two years previous. I had not noticed this. I was then admitted to ward 42 at the Victoria.
The treatment at ward 42 was very good. I was made feel welcome, I couldn’t fault them. I received 3 MRI scans whilst in the VHK. Physiotherapy was very difficult at first. I was then transferred to Letham Ward Cameron Hospital for further Rehabilitation.
Whilst at Cameron there was nodules found on my spine, all communications to the Western General was dealt with quickly. Physiotherapy very challenging.
I became frustrated and angry at the beginning, now I understand why Physiotherapy did what they did. Activities helped me a lot , I enjoyed working on the jigsaws and the hand physio box that the Activities coordinator made for me. Also I enjoyed sudoku and crosswords for activities.
The first bed was a little high for me, this was corrected very quickly . Meal choices became very repetitive after being here for many months.
I cannot fault the staff at Letham ward, whatever I needed I got. I have had a lot of trouble with the diabetic team at the VHK, it has has taken months for my monitor etc to be sorted.
I am where I am today with my Rehab because of the Staff at Letham Ward.
