"A&E and Admission"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department

(as the patient),

I had to attend A&E at Altnagelvin hospital last weekend as I was doubled over in sever pain and very swollen. I was admitted late on the Saturday afternoon. There was no beds available at that time and therefore remained in A&E overnight, one of the staff nurses, nurse Collins was very kind thoughtful and very thorough whilst looking after me, this nurse knew that I had been in the department over 24 hours and had no sleep, this was through no fault of the staffs. A bed was arranged within the A&E dept so that I could try and have some rest whilst receiving treatment. I was admitted to the ward later on the Sunday evening the care I was afforded was 2nd to none and I really appreciate everything that staff did for me throughout my stay.

Hi Sharonssssss,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

I am glad to hear that you had a mostly positive experience in our department despite the lengthy wait for a bed. I will share your kind words with staff nurse Collins and the rest of our time. I hope you are recovering well!

Best wishes,

Fiona
